Biography

A French writer and filmmaker, Jérémie Damoiseau holds a Masters degree in Film Studies from the Sorbonne University in Paris, and he is a graduate of the Los Angeles Film School.

Aside from his academic and film background, Jérémie holds a first degree black belt in karate, that he has been practicing for 15 years. He is also the author of an academic thesis on action star Dolph Lundgren, and manages the website www.dolph-ultimate.com in his spare time.

Jérémie was born and grew up in a suburb of Paris. Only aged nine, he found his calling in cinema, a life commitment that he would never let go of.

After graduating from high school, Jérémie entered the University of Panthéon-Sorbonne in Paris where he was selected for the film studies program. He discovered a new approach to arts and a new interest for experimental films that he shot and edited in Super 8 (« Broken Time »).

It's while he was completing his masters degree, that Jérémie finally got his foot in the door, by entering Metropolitan Filmexport, one of the strongest independent companies in France, having just produced “Brotherhood of the Wolf” and acquiring “The Lord of The Rings” distribution rights. Being around Samuel and Victor Hadida (also known as “the French Weinstein brothers”), he was paid to attend what was like an intensive four-year film program, while learning about the production and distribution business, all being in house at Metropolitan and its Davis Films venture.

Feeling his training was still incomplete and a burning desire to make his own films again, he set himself to attend the one-year Immersion Filmmaking Program of the Los Angeles Film School during which he worked on many productions including “The Hit Show”, and “86 Manners”, where he mostly held the positions of script supervisor, assistant director and producer. For the needs of his thesis film “Blind Doll”, Jérémie was not only the writer/director but also the producer, production designer and editor.

In addition to “Blind Doll”, Jérémie's recent credits include the “Frankenstein"/”Raging Bull”-inspired film “The Champ”, the thriller feature « The Jinn », the TV pilot « Eden », and the « Helene Keller » short period piece. He also produced a music video for the L.A.-based band "C24C", and he is currently developing several feature films projects as well as a book.
